AISD Students Excel in HLSR Art Contest

The rodeo committee judges selected 10 artworks on Jan. 16 to represent Aldine ISD in the Hayloft Gallery at Reliant Center. The artworks, of which five are from Nimitz High School students, will be displayed in the gallery for the duration of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR). Each year, the Hayloft Gallery proudly displays the winners from the Show’s School Art Program. Visitors will be able to stroll the gallery and view works of artists-in-the-making from kindergarten to 12th grade from throughout the Houston area. The Hayloft Gallery is located in the lobby of Reliant Center.

While many AISD students earned blue, red and white ribbons, the following students will have their artwork on display at the Hayloft Gallery.

The five high school winners from AISD have an opportunity to be selected for the School Art Auction held later in March. At the School Art Auction, students who participate in the HLSR’s School Art Program have the opportunity to win scholarships. Last’s year’s Grand Champion sold for $206,000 while the Reserve Grand Champion went for $175,000.
