18 AISD Student Athletes Earn Athletic Scholarships

Eighteen Aldine ISD senior student athletes received scholarships that give them the chance to continue their academic and athletic careers when they signed national letters of intent to attend a number of colleges and universities on National Signing Day, which was held on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Aldine High School soccer player María Cueva will attend Texas Southern University, linebacker Devante Gabriel will attend Kansas Wesleyan University, quarterback Derick Brown will attend Blinn College and linebacker Jacorey Washington will attend Sam Houston State University.

Eisenhower High School cross country runners Horacio Benítez and Christian Padilla will both attend Ranger College, wide receiver Rayshaun Givins will attend Prairie View A&M University, defensive back Eric Alvis will attend Morgan State, running back Jerricho Worrell will attend Blinn College, and offensive lineman Jalend Washom will attend Stephen F. Austin State University.

MacArthur High School offensive lineman Nick Medrano received a scholarship to attend Trinity Valley College.

Nimitz High linebacker Larry Bush and offensive lineman Brandon Jones will each attend Texas A&M University-Kingsville, defensive lineman Jeondard Champagne will attend Trinity Valley College, running back Dre’Vian Young will attend the University of Utah while defensive backs Marcus Starghill and Sayvon Young and offensive lineman Keddrick Fuselier will all attend Citrus College.
