Lady Eagles Win 18-5A Track Title

The Eisenhower High Lady Eagles’ track and field team captured the District 18-5A title, while the Nimitz High Cougars finished second in the boy’s division. The league meet was held April 9-12 at Bill Smith Stadium in Aldine ISD.

Additionally, Aldine ISD will send 49 individuals and eleven relay teams to the area round competition against District 17-5A on Friday, April 19 at Klein High School. The top four finishers in each event and relay will advance to the Region III Meet, set for April 25-26 at Turner Stadium in Humble.

This is the first year that individuals and relay teams advanced to the area round prior to qualifying for the regional meet. The top four finishers in each individual event and the top four relay teams advanced to the area round of competition.

The Lady Eagles, under the direction of head coach Ahmad Roper, scored 168 point en route to their first-place finish. Alief Elsik finished second with 116 points, Nimitz High finished third with 72 points, while MacArthur High placed sixth with 65 points and Davis High finished seventh with 14 points.

In the boy’s division, Nimitz finished second to Alief Taylor with 198 points. MacArthur High finished fifth with 136 points, while Eisenhower High finished sixth with 106 points, Davis High placed seventh with 83 points and Aldine High finished eighth with 41 points.
