Kujawa EC/PK Center Honors Former Custodian at Annual Butterfly Release Event

The butterfly release is an annual event that is aligned with the unit of inquiry “How the World Works.” Students spend weeks learning about living and non-living things, their characteristics and life cycles. They watched the caterpillars evolve into chrysalises and then emerge as butterflies. Teachers bring their classes out to the butterfly garden and two students are selected to release the butterflies from the net while others sing and look on. This year, the butterfly release held April 26 was dedicated in memory of Clarence Fisher, a longtime Aldine ISD employee of buildings and properties. After Fisher retired, he would spend countless hours at the campus volunteering his time. He took pride in creating the butterfly garden. Mr. Fisher’s immediate family (pictured above) attended the event that honored his legacy. Also in attendance were former colleagues and Emitte Roque, AISD executive director of buildings and properties.
