Eisenhower FCCLA Students Shine at Regional, State Events

A number of Eisenhower High School students participated in the Region 4 FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) Leadership Meeting and STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events, which occurred earlier this spring in Galveston. Students also fared well in the State FCCLA Leadership Meeting held April 10-13 in Dallas. FCCLA is a nonprofit U.S. career and technical student organization for young men and women in family and consumer science education. FCCLA is the only in-school student organization with the family as its central focus.  The organization provides opportunities for active student participation at local, state, and national levels.

Regional Event Results

• 1st Place in Advocacy Occupationally Specific Division — Jessica Reyes & Cynthia Umanzor (advanced to state)
• 1st Place in Interpersonal Communications — Jennifer Soto-Uribe (advanced to state)
• 1st Place in Teach & Train, Senior Division  — Jordy Ríos (advanced to state)
• 5th Place in Chapter Service Project Manual Event — Alexandra Guerrero & Jairo Villatoro (advanced to state)
• 7th Place in Illustrated Talk Event — Jennifer Reyes
 (advanced to state)

State Event Results

• Gold Outstanding Chapter Award — Eisenhower FCCLA Chapter
• Best Overall Project — Eisenhower’s FCCLA Delta Chapter partnered with the school’s Cosmetology Department and worked with La Rosa Family Services to develop “Pamper & Play Day” at Denver Harbor Community Center for victims of domestic violence.

Jordy Ríos recently received news that he would advance to the national competition set for July in Nashville, TN.
