MacArthur, Nimitz Students Headed to National History Competition and Cheplick Named Educator of the Year Finalist

Aldine ISD had 79 students with 26 projects participate at the Texas State History Day held May 3-4 at the University of Texas in Austin. Of these, six projects and 20 students from MacArthur High School and Nimitz High School will be advancing to the National History Day (NHD) competition set for June 9-13 at the University of Maryland. Also headed to the national event is history teacher Richard Cheplick of Nimitz Ninth Grade. Cheplick received the David DeBoe Award. The annual DeBoe Award goes to the faculty sponsor of a student history association who has supported significant student scholarship and participation in Texas history. He has also been named a Texas Educator of the Year Finalist for the Patricia Behring Award at NHD.

Students from Carver High School, Eisenhower High School, MacArthur High School, Nimitz High School, Hambrick Middle School, Lewis Middle School, Shotwell Middle School, Stovall Middle School, Rayford Intermediate School, Reed Academy, and Stehlik Intermediate School represented the school district in the state event.
