18 Aldine ISD Seniors Named Jones Scholars by Houston Endowment Fund

Eighteen Aldine ISD high school seniors are among the 320 graduates in the greater Houston area selected as 2013 Jones Scholars. Houston Endowment is a philanthropic foundation established by Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones in 1958. Over the years, more than 11,000 Houston area graduating high school seniors have had the honor of being named a Jones Scholar through the Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones Scholars Program. Each year, Houston Endowment selects four Jones Scholars from each of the high school graduating classes in all the school districts within Harris County. Since the program’s inception, Houston Endowment has provided almost $97 million to help 11,144 Jones Scholars attend college.

Students are nominated by participating high schools and are selected based on academic achievement, economic need, leadership skills, community service and character.
