Seven students from Aldine ISD middle schools have earned state recognition as 2012-13 Duke Scholars for their exceptional scores on the ACT or SAT college entrance exam.

Sponsored by Duke University, the Talent Identification Program (TIP) identifies academically talented seventh graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exam as seventh graders to give them greater insight into their academic abilities. Participants gain valuable benefits and have access to unique resources for gifted students. Additionally, Texas students with qualifying scores earn state recognition.

A total of 176 Aldine ISD seventh grade gifted and talented (GT) students participated in the program. Of these, seven qualified for state recognition.
