Campus Teacher of the Year: Ermel Elementary

One of Aldine ISD’s campus teachers of the year who will be honored at the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”] Teacher of the Year Breakfast on March 7, 2014.

When asked about his teaching philosophy, he responded:

The best teachers are not the ones who give students the most information, but those who teach the students how to discover information for themselves. We can give students all of the knowledge that we have acquired, but they are not going to internalize any of it unless they feel they have learned it for themselves and have taken ownership of it. The students become their own teachers and the teacher becomes their guide. This takes more time, but is worth it in the long run for everyone.
