Aldine ISD Partners With Harris County Clerk, NALEO and Mi Familia Vota to Encourage Voter Registration

Aldine ISD is making it easy for eligible students to vote in the upcoming general election. The district has partnered with the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO), Mi Familia Vota, and the Harris County Clerk’s Office to work with students. Representatives from these agencies will be addressing high school students about the importance of registering to vote. The Voter Registration Awareness Events will coincide with Constitution Week, Sept. 15-19.

During Constitution Week, community partners will visit with students at the high schools and assist those who are eligible to register to vote. The event will include a Constitution Quiz face-off between students and teachers.

There will also be a photo wall to post images of students who register to vote.

The district invites media to attend the event at Eisenhower High School set for Wed., Sept. 17 (Constitution Day). Aside from the activities mentioned above, the campus will decorate in red, white and blue. The 45-minute event will commence at 10:25 a.m.

Besides learning about voter registration, the students will also learn how they can work the polls on Election Day. The Harris County Clerk’s Office will discuss how a Texas law now allows high school students to serve as poll workers. To qualify a student must:
