9 Kujawa Elementary School Students Place in Houston Fire Prevention Contest

October is National Fire Prevention Month. Each year, the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Houston Fire Museum sponsors a poster contest. It is open to students in the Houston area in prekindergarten through 12th grade. Once again, students at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Kujawa Elementary School did well. Several took home first place ribbons.

The contest has students use their artistic ability to interpret a fire safety awareness message. And it serves to help raise the importance of and awareness of fire safety education. Independent Insurance Agents of Houston (IIAH) and Greensheet also supported the event.

Judges selected winners in each grade level. Grand prizewinners will receive ribbons and cash prizes.

Of the 21 Kujawa Elementary School students that participated, nine placed in the contest. Four students placed first in their grade level. Their art teacher is Kelly Patterson.

Students will attend an awards ceremony in November (TBA). Traditionally, the museum will post images of the grand prize winning posters on its website through the end of the year.
