Kujawa Elementary School Named Sam’s Club School of the Year

Teachers at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Kujawa Elementary School recently received a little help with classroom supplies. Sam’s Club representatives visited to announce that the local store had named the campus a Sam’s Club School of the Year.

Kalipha Mohammed and Danny Riveria with Sam’s Club presented the campus with 17 Teacher Reward Cards to give away in a drawing. This is Sam’s Club way to honor and support teachers’ efforts to educate their students.

The Teacher Rewards Program is part of Wal-mart’s ongoing support of local education initiatives.

For the sixth year, Wal-mart will donate more than $5 million. The company will provide 100,00 teachers across the United States with reward cards. Wal-mart created the Teacher Rewards Program to offset the cost of classroom expenses.

Principal Debera Thomas welcomed the recognition by Sam’s Club.

“This is quite an honor,”  said Thomas. “The teachers appreciate the gesture. Every year teachers spend their own money to buy classroom supplies and supplies for students who may need them. These gift cards will come in handy.

“It is wonderful to see Sam’s Club recognizing teachers’ dedication and commitment to students.”

Several campus administrators attended the small ceremony. Among them were Linda Johnson, International Baccalaureate (IB) coordinator; Kim Corrick and Sonia Pace, assistant principals; and Chansinique Creeks, [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”] 21st Century Community Learning Center site coordinator.
