Hambrick-Middle-School-Girls-Talk-Visits-Pilgrim-Place-1Girls Talk is an organization at Hambrick Middle School that focuses on adolescents. The group helps middle school girls deal with the issues they face during their formative early teenage years. Girls Talk’s mission aspires to build girls’ self-esteem. The teenagers also develop leadership skills and recognize the value of community service.

The chapter’s president at the campus is eighth grader Samantha Sánchez. She coordinated the chapter’s recent visit seniors to Pilgrim Place. The campus is near the assisted living facility for seniors.

The students spent time with the residents. Everyone enjoyed playing games like Bingo and sharing some light refreshments. The residents invited the students to come back during the school year for another visit.

Students that took part included Jasmine Luna, Cristal Ortiz, María Salazar, and Samantha Sánchez. Also present were Krystal Doakes, Liliana Campo, A’lelia Ferguson, and Victoriana Romo. Also at the event were Denise Rodríguez and Elijah Hernández.

Stephanie Clarke-Brooks, Lacey Chapron and Emily Janssen serve as faculty sponsors of Girls Talk.
