The [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Annual AISD Livestock Show and Art Auction took place Feb. 2-6 at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center.

The show is the pinnacle event for FFA students. Over the course of two days, the students had their projects judged and seen by the public. Event organizers also held a Sale of Champions during a Buyers Dinner held Feb. 6.

Folks could also help FFA students by buying some grub on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6. FFA staff and parents sold breakfast items. They also cooked and served brisket, sausage and chicken barbecue plates. Other items included barbeque sandwiches, baked potatoes, nachos and boudin. And of course a Texas favorite was on the menu: Frito® pie.

The money awarded to student members of Future Farmers of America (FFA) for their projects is theirs to keep. They can use the funds for college scholarships or to fund future FFA projects. The same is true for monies awarded to students through the Art Auction. The art students can keep the money for college or to buy art supplies.

Organizers did something different this year. For the first time, the [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion artworks formed part of the Live Auction, which took place during the Buyers Dinner. The third through eighth place artworks were also up for auction. But these pieces were up for bidding during the Silent Art Auction that took place after the Live Auction.

Aldine ISD will post another article soon. It will inform the community about the money raised along with the complete report of winners and buyers.

In the meantime, AISD leaders thank the FFA sponsors and everyone that supported the students and their projects.
