MacArthur High School’s Winter Color Guard Takes 1st Place at TCGC 2015 East Regional Championships

[icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]MacArthur High School recently took first in their class at the 2015 Texas Color Guard Circuit East Regional Championships. The event took place at Morton Ranch High School.

The [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]group competed in the Scholastic Regional A Class Blue category. Gustavo Jacobo directed the team. Gary Canton, Rachael Lievanos, and Halie Charo served as assistant directors. The band directors are José Díaz, Abby Wilde and Eric Palmer.

Several other AISD Winter Color Guard teams competed. Nimitz High School and Eisenhower High School placed fourth and 10th, respectively, in the Novice Red category. And Aldine High School placed fourth in the Novice Blue category.

Winter guard is an indoor color guard activity. Unlike traditional color guard, winter guard takes place indoors. Events usually occur in a gymnasium or an indoor arena.

The Texas Color Guard Circuit offers competitions for students. Events are for color guard, indoor marching percussion and concert percussion units.

TCGC offers a variety of competitive classes ranging from the first year unit to the seasoned competitor.
