American Legion Post 578 Donates Supplies to MacArthur High School Teachers

Community organization helps kick off new school year by giving a helping hand.

[dropcap color=”#888″ type=”square”]T[/dropcap]eachers at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]MacArthur High School got a nice surprise as they started the new school. The [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]American Legion Post 578 donated a variety of supplies to the educators.

The large donation included reams of paper, boxes of pens, pencils, and dry erasers. They also donated hand sanitizers, Kleenex boxes, and disinfecting wipes.

A special thanks goes out to Pearl Martínez and the Ladies Auxiliary. They organized an Adopt a Teacher/Health Fair in early August at Post 578. Martínez is president of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Many in the community donated money to make the donation possible.

Teachers had big smiles on their faces when Post 578 and the Ladies Auxiliary made the donation. Teaches like Cristina Sizemore are thankful to be part of such a generous community. Sizemore is a Spanish teacher at [icons icon_name=”icon-external-link” icon_size=”14px”]MacArthur High School.

“The donation was a beautiful reminder that teachers are not forgotten,” said Sizemore. “It really is a kind gesture. It reminded us that there are people in our community who not only support students. But there also people who appreciate those who serve them. Thank you America Legion for your generous donation to each of our staff members.“
