Child Nutrition Prepares to Feed Aldine ISD Students for the Upcoming School Year

This summer, Aldine ISD Child Nutrition served over 1.6 million curbside meals to Aldine ISD families. During the 2020-2021 school year Child Nutrition will continue to offer meals for students who have chosen to learn on campus and at home. Breakfast will be free for all students. Lunches will be charged based on meal status as free, reduced-price, or paid.
August 17 to September 21, Aldine ISD will provide 58 curbside meal sites for Aldine ISD students. Meals will be provided on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday: (Breakfast and Lunch for Monday and Tuesday) Wednesday: (Breakfast and Lunch for Wednesday and Thursday) Friday: (Breakfast and Lunch for Friday)
Beginning Tuesday, September 22, curbside meal sites will shift from 58 to 12 sites. Curbside meals will be available each Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday: (Breakfast and Lunch for Tuesday and Wednesday)
Thursday: (Breakfast and Lunch for Thursday, Friday and Monday)
Students do not have to be present for meal pickup, however, a student ID must be provided at breakfast and lunch to ensure efficient scanning of ID for payment and minimize touching of ID by multiple staff. Families can find their student ID by visiting their SchoolCafe.com or Home Access Center account.
Meal Payments
- Parents are encouraged to use www.SchoolCafe.com for prepayments to provide student meal money instead of sending cash to your child’s campus. Parents who need to complete a meal application for the 2020-2021 school year must do so by Thursday, October 1 to avoid a change with student eligibility.
- Breakfast is offered at no cost to all students; lunch costs $2.25 for secondary schools and $2.00 for elementary levels.
- Learning at Home, students will have curbside meals available for the same prices as meals served in the school.
- Your child(ren) may qualify for free meals or reduced-price meals. The reduced price is $0.40 for lunch. Please visit www.SchoolCafe.com to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits.
- Students without money for lunch will be allowed to purchase full meals up to a $20 debt limit. Purchase of a la carte items will not be allowed if a student has a negative balance.
- Parents are strongly encouraged to monitor their student’s meal account balance.
- Payments may be made in the school cafeteria or online at SchoolCafe. Please visit www.SchoolCafe.com to register. SchoolCafe allows parents to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits, monitor account balances, or check menus.
Meal Service
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students learning at home or learning at school.
- Students learning at home will be provided with meals through curbside service.
- All entrees will come with heating instructions.
- Students learning on campus in Grades 1-12 will be provided meal service through a number of methods:
- Mobile Breakfast carts will be stationed throughout each school to practice social distancing and speed service.
- Limited dining room seating for a number of students that may dine in the cafeteria at specific tables marked to ensure social distancing.
- Cafeteria to Classroom, where students will pick up food from the cafeteria and take it back to their classroom.
- Primary School students will receive breakfast and lunch door delivery/utilize limited dining room seating in the cafeteria.
- Students must provide an ID at breakfast and lunch to ensure efficient scanning of ID for payment and minimize touching of ID by multiple staff.
- Students must follow social distancing signage displayed.
- Students may be directed to eat in various locations throughout the building, including classrooms, to maximize social distancing.
- Students will enter the cafeteria using social distancing floor markers, make lunch selections, and then travel back to the classroom with closed containers.
The schools below with an * will continue to serve as curbside meal sites on Tuesday, September 21, 2020 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
