Message From the Superintendent, Aug. 17, 2020

Disponible en: Español

Dear Aldine Community,

Welcome back! We made it. The first day of school is here.

It brings me so much pride to be reunited with our staff, students, and families — even if it’s across our screens — as we come together to kick off what is sure to be an unforgettable year.

To every single person reading this letter: YOU are the reason we are able to deliver on our promise for what every Aldine ISD student deserves — an education that opens doors to choices and opportunities. Because of you, we rose up this past spring to reach every student learning from home. Because of you, we served over 1.6 million meals to students over the past six months. Because of you, I have no doubt that this year we will continue to move forward. Always forward.

Since this year will look different, we have a new slogan to capture the spirit of learning: Aldine Anywhere. Through the partnership of parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff, our students will have the learning experiences they deserve — at home, at school, anywhere.

We will teach whether we are back together in the classroom or providing our students with lessons through technology; our commitment to them and their futures remains consistent. In a time of so much uncertainty, we know students are counting on their teachers to be their rock, their safe harbor in turbulent waters. We’ll teach them in school or Schoology; we’ll teach them with masks or by assigning tasks, we’ll teach them face to face or heart to heart. The location might change, but the spirit of Aldine never fails. #AldineAnywhere is what will see our students through this year.

We encourage you to share photos and stories from the first day of school using #AldineFirstDay20 #AldineAnywhere #AldineEnCualquierLugar

For more details about the first three weeks of school, please see last week’s message, and continue to visit aldineisd.org/returntolearn for the district’s up-to-date plans.

With Aldine Pride,

Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney
Superintendent
