Six Aldine ISD Police Officers Receive Promotions

Six Aldine ISD Police Officers were promoted to supervisors during a swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Board Room of the Donaldson Administration Building.

Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney joined Aldine ISD Police Chief Paul Cordova and Capt. Kevin Northey at a ceremony announcing the promotion of six AISD Police Officers who were promoted to supervisors on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in the Board Room of the Donaldson Administration Building.

Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney, AISD Police Chief Paul Cordova, and Capt. Kevin Northey attended the ceremony.

“This is an exciting day for our Aldine ISD officers and their family members here with us today,” Dr. Goffney said. “We have amazing officers working every day to protect our staff, teachers, and our community. We have seen, heard, and witnessed many good things about officers who are there for their community. This job is truly about not what you receive but what you give. The job of a police officer is about building relationships.

“It’s about being sensitive to the community’s needs, making sure that they are fair and good to the community. The badge officers wear is a powerful symbol, and with it comes great responsibility to every person in our community. The officers here today being sworn in for promotions are exemplary examples and role models. They have honored the oath they took. Continue to honor your oath and the community you serve. Continue to be a beacon of hope for people in need of help. And continue to do us proud,” Dr. Goffney said.

Chief Cordova said he was excited for the officers and the new roles within the department.

“It is with great pride and pleasure that I announce the new supervisors for our department,” he said. “I want to thank and recognize all the applicants who applied to these positions, showing true leadership by being willing to step forward when needed. To the officers, I congratulate you on your well-deserved promotions.”

Sergeant Marc Harris was promoted to the rank of Police Captain. Harris has 21 years of experience as a Texas Peace Officer and has spent 19 years with the Aldine ISD Police Department. He has also served with the Spring ISD Police Department and the Humble ISD Police Department. Harris has been a supervisor for 13 years, first as a Corporal, and then as a Sergeant. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Bellevue University. He has also completed the FBI LEEDA Trilogy training in Supervision, Command, and Executive Leadership. His most recent assignment before his promotion was serving as the Administrative Sergeant overseeing Texas Best Practices, Dispatch, Fleet Management, Investigations, K9, and Alarm Technicians.

Police Officer Christopher Harris was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. Harris has nearly 12 years of experience as a Texas Peace Officer. He has served with the Aldine ISD Police Department for eight years and spent four years with the Houston ISD Police Department. Harris holds an Advanced Certification with TCOLE. He is currently assigned to Davis High School.

Police Officer Renee Hall was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. Hall has more than 15 years of service as a Texas Peace Officer. She spent a year-and-a-half with the Spring ISD Police Department and 131/2 years with the Aldine ISD Police Department. Hall holds an Advanced Certification with TCOLE. She is currently serving as an Investigator.

Police Officer Phylecia Lewis was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. Lewis has nearly 27 years of service as a Texas Peace Officer and has spent all 27 of those years with Aldine ISD. Lewis holds a Master Certification with TCOLE. She has served in nearly every facet of the Aldine ISD Police Department. She is currently over the Property/Evidence Room, and she also serves as an Investigator as needed.

Police Officer Robert Phillo was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. Phillo has 16 years of experience as a Texas Peace Officer, all of which have been with the Aldine ISD Police Department. Phillo has an Advanced Certification with TCOLE. He is currently assigned to the night shift patrol.

Police Officer Derrick Young was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. Young has nearly 15 years of service as a Texas Peace Officer. Before joining the Aldine ISD Police Department, Young served at the Marlin Police Department, where he was a Corporal. He has served with the Aldine ISD Police Department for nine years. Young holds a Master Peace Officer Certification with TCOLE. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Bellevue University and a separate Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. He is currently assigned as the Campus Officer for Davis Ninth Grade School.
