Schoology Tutorials

Ms. Jennifer Arriaga, ESL teacher at Davis Senior High School, created the below videos to help students and parents log into Schoology courses. Kudos to Ms. Arriaga for going the extra mile to support our Aldine families!

Community Resources

Free Meal Bundles
Free Meal Bundles, breakfast and lunch, are available to students participating in virtual learning, as well as children 18 and under, who are not currently enrolled in Aldine ISD. Participants are able to pick up breakfast and lunch bundles, curbside from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meals are packaged with heating directions. Two stops a week = 14 meals per child.

Texas Recovering Together
Recovering Together is a Crisis Counseling Program (CCP) funded by FEMA that offers crisis counseling, community outreach, local referrals and resources, linkage and psycho-education to individuals, families, and communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs offer after-school programs at their sites 5 days a week, 20 hours per week. The program includes snacks, meals, academic, career, readiness and devotional activities.

Hurricane Harvey Homeowner Assistance Program
The City of Houston’s Homeowner Assistance Program through the Texas General Land Office is giving assistance to families in the Houston and Harris County area who are still in need of repairs due to Hurricane Harvey. You may apply online here.

United Way of Greater Houston
United Way of Greater Houston helps families find resources according to their needs. Enter your zip code into this link to locate services near you.

Are You Facing Eviction?
Many families are struggling financially due to the pandemic and are receiving eviction notices from their landlords for not being able to pay their rent. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued an eviction moratorium to stop evictions and prevent the spread of COVID-19. This eviction moratorium started on September 4 and will last until December 31. Click here to find information about this moratorium. October is National Principals Month. Principals are visionary leaders who work tirelessly to help students succeed academically. Now, more than ever, principals must be creative to maintain rigorous instruction and a positive learning environment during these challenging times.

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. From books to read to movies to watch, below are some activities you can do with your children at home to celebrate this month.

On September 16, Goodman Assistant Principal, Mrs. Tysheka McKinnie and Ermel Bilingual Teacher, Mrs. Sandra Goijman, did an outstanding job teaching our parents how to create a virtual classroom. Aldine parents learned how to hyperlink to webpages to motivate their children to be engaged in their classes.
