Disponible en: Español

Join the online event on October 15, 2020, to learn more about dual credit courses at LSC!

High school entering juniors and seniors in the 2020-2021 school year have an opportunity to join Lone Star College-North Houston’s virtual information session set for Thursday, October 15.

Aldine ISD and Lone Star College-North Houston have a long partnership spanning many years. The dual credit program forms part of the District’s Advanced Academics Program. Dual is one of the ways students increase their college readiness.

In addition to earning college credit, dual credit courses offer high school student’s several benefits:

  • Enhance high school GPA — some dual credit courses are weighted higher.
  • College experience; making it a smoother transition between high school and college
  • First-hand exposure to college-level work while still in high school.
  • A chance to complete their bachelor’s degree faster
  • An opportunity to begin their freshman year of college with college credits while they also earn credits toward high school graduation
  • Courses transfer to most 4-year colleges and universities

Dual credit options can provide significant cost savings over a traditional college education. Students who choose to enter college after completing a dual credit program can still take advantage of freshmen scholarships.

During the session, students and their families will learn all about:

  • The criteria to enroll in dual credit courses
  • The policies and practices
  • The costs — LSC waives the college tuition fee; high schools students pay fees less than $80 a class each semester
  • The process of getting started
