Disponible en: Español

On Saturday, Nov. 14, Aldine ISD’s FACE (Family And Community Engagement) Department held a virtual “Be Inspired” event. The event provided Aldine community members to hear personal stories of hope, resilience, and inspiration from parents, grandparents, students, school principals, and Aldine ISD business partners.

Dr. Martha Escalante, Executive Director of FACE, said she believed the event was uplifting to nearly 100 people who participated in the event virtually.

“Everyone has a story to tell, and we can learn and motivate each other by hearing how people have overcome challenges in their lives,” Dr. Escalante said. “The parents who attended this “Be Inspired” event said that all the stories were compelling. They said that they would love to attend more of these events that encourage them to face adversity with a positive mindset.”

Yvonne Lopez Taylor, Aldine ISD’s and Region 4’s Elementary Teacher of the Year, addressed parents during the Be Inspired even sponsored by the FACE Department on Nov. 21.

There was an English and Spanish session.

Panelists for the English version were:

  • Yvonne López-Taylor – Aldine ISD and Region 4’s Elementary Teacher of the Year
  • Erik Torres – Principal of Ermel Elementary School
  • Miguel Chacón – Student at Blanson CTE High School
  • Jometra Hawkins – of BakerRipley
  • Jennifer Carrington – parent and Aldine ISD business partner

Dr. Escalante said another “Be Inspired” event would be held in the spring.
