Aldine ISD to Host Virtual Schools of Choice Festival on Saturday, December 12

Disponible en: Español

The festival presents options for families to consider for their students during the application period.

Elementary students and a science experiment.

The district’s Schools of Choice options give students the opportunity to attend schools outside their attendance zones and in areas of interest. The event will enable families to explore their school options for the 2021-2022 school year and learn about the choice application process.

Click here to view all the school options from STEAM, early college, career and technology, and the International Baccalaureate (IB®) Program.

Interested families who join the virtual festival on Saturday, December 12, will hear from each school of choice option representative who will discuss their campus’ programs.

Aldine ISD to Offer Two New Options Starting Fall 2021

The district will offer two new options starting fall 2021 — the Newcomer School and Aldine’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy.

The Newcomer School is an innovative program targeting high school students newly arrived in the U.S. from non-English speaking countries or with limited English proficiency. They will receive intensive English language learning instruction, core academics, and support services.

Aldine’s Young Women’s Leadership Academy — Where Girls Shine / Academia de Liderazgo para Mujeres Jóvenes — Donde las Mujeres Jóvenes Brillan

The Young Women’s Leadership Academy will focus on college preparatory academics for girls in Grades 6-12, emphasizing college preparedness, leadership development, and STEM. YWLA is opening in partnership with the nonprofit organization, Young Women’s Preparatory Network.

Families with questions can talk with school staff during the Q&A session.

Festival Links

The Schools of Choice Festival link will become active starting Friday, December 11. The public will find the link on the district website, AldineISD.org, Twitter, and Facebook accounts. Families can take advantage of looking at the different options Aldine ISD offers before the festival on Saturday, December 12.

Again, the link for the Virtual Schools of Choice Festival will not be live until December 12. Additionally, families will also be able to click on the live virtual meeting session links for each campus of interest.
