Aldine ISD leaders recently completed a two-year District Leadership Program with The Holdsworth Center. The District leaders attended a special graduation ceremony at Holdsworth’s new Campus on Lake Austin in Austin, TX on June 17.
In 2019, Aldine ISD was selected as one of six Texas school districts to participate in The Holdsworth Center’s five-year partnership focused on helping public school districts grow their pipeline of inspiring leaders. The partnership, funded by H-E-B CEO and Chairman Charles Butt, is designed to improve the quality of education offered to every child in every classroom in Texas.
The nonprofit works with districts to train administrative leaders in each district, while also establishing systems for identifying and selecting future high-level district staffers. The Holdsworth Partnership is centered on two core investments in leadership at the district and campus levels.
Over the last two years, Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney and five other leaders from central office embarked on the two-year District Leadership Program, a learning journey that included sessions with some of the nation’s top leadership experts and site visits to study high-performing organizations in the U.S. and abroad. These District leaders are working together to build and implement robust talent management systems with help from Holdsworth staff who provide support tailored to the unique needs of Aldine ISD.
Leadership Matters in Aldine ISD
In Aldine, there has been a sense of what leadership looks like for years, but each staff members’ interpretation may have differed. Holdsworth supported Aldine with identifying specific language aligned with the district’s strategic priority, Mission-Driven Leadership, to create consistency and unity around what leadership looks like. This specific language led to the
development of a Leadership Definition to establish transparent communication throughout the organization, which is to connect, inspire, and impact.
The work of the District leaders will continue to impact and build a legacy of equity and excellence across the district.
