Houston Academy’s sixth-grade Language Arts teacher, Breanna Jagodzinski was recently selected as one of three finalists in Region 4’s Elementary Teacher of the Year Awards program.
For the second year in a row, an Aldine ISD Teacher of the Year has risen to the top to compete with the top teachers in the state.
Jagodzinski advanced to the regional level after earning the district title of Elementary Teacher of the Year, in March.
Her colleagues describe her as passionate, dedicated to her students, and hardworking.
Jagodzinski strives to bring out the best in her students.
“I believe each person contains unique qualities that undeniably make them meant to do one thing in this world,” she said. “I have made it my personal lifelong mission to help students find their ‘one thing.’ This starts in the classroom, through knowledge, discovery, and experiences that shape who they are in every facet. Children must understand that it is no coincidence they were placed on this earth.”
After submitting her online application to Region 4, Jagodzinski participated in a virtual interview with the Region 4 Teacher of the Year Committee.
Jagodzinski explained what it means to her to be selected as a Region 4 Teacher of the Year Finalist.
“It is simply amazing,” she said. “Education, Aldine ISD, and Houston Academy continue to transform me into the individual and educator I am today. Each person who has molded me, cheered for me, and supported each one of my ambitions along the way is the reason why being selected as a finalist for Region 4 Teacher of the Year means the world to me. This is such an amazing win for all of Aldine ISD, Houston Academy, and my family and friends in Wisconsin. I am truly humbled to be recognized, and am appreciative of all the love and support.”
The Region 4 Elementary Teacher of the Year winner will be announced on August 4, during the Region 4 Teachers of the Year Awards Ceremony. The selected finalist will then represent Region 4 in the TASA Texas Teacher of the Year program.
