Lady Generals Win League Title With 14-0 Record

The MacArthur High School Lady Generals varsity volleyball team captured its second straight District 14-6A title by going undefeated in league play.

Under the direction of head coach Lynda Eastland, the Lady Generals finished 14-0 and captured its second straight league crown. It marked the first time in 40 years that the MacArthur volleyball team won back-to-back district titles.

“I want to congratulate the Lady Generals for their historical finish in the district,” Eastland said. “They took on Spring High in our final district contest with an undefeated league season on the line. The girls walked the court with determination to win, and that’s what they did. I am so proud of this group.”

The team consists of seniors Sydney Davis, Jasmine Rutledge, and Aaliyah Callaway; juniors Gaby Ruiz, Ivett Esquivel, Emeli Muguatuti’a, and Natalie Gammage; sophomores Renata Rebelledo, Nicole Rebelledo, Kayla Jones and Estefania Negrete; and freshmen Jessika Martínez and NaKisha Nedd.

Leslie Mike, NaTonya Holmes, Linda Paxton, and Mya Rutledge serve as assistant coaches.
