Aldine ISD Launches Choice School Program Application for Admissions to 2022-2023 Academic Year

Aldine ISD has launched its Choice Schools online application. Families and their children can choose from Aldine’s various unique academic programs — preschool to high school — from throughout the district. Each program provides students the support they need in their areas of interest and offers extracurricular activities.

The district encourages families to explore their choices by going to the Aldine ISD Choice Schools website. Families can select up to three different programs and rank their selections 1,2 and 3, with 1 being their first option. After reviewing all the options, families must create an online account before starting the application. An email address is required to create an account.

PreK Criteria

Families applying for prekindergarten (PreK) programs must meet the income or language guidelines to be eligible for admission into the program. There is an age requirement for primary school options:

A child entering PreK must be four (4) years old on or before September 1 of the current year.
A child entering kindergarten must be five (5) years old on or before September 1 of the current year.

Complete the Application Process by the Deadline

The deadline to apply is December 9 by the end of the day. The reason for this is that some schools require additional steps between applications being submitted and the lottery (i.e., interviews, assessments, record checking) to ensure students are eligible. Some Choice Schools do not have these additional steps, so once the application is submitted, the students immediately enter the lottery pool.

Upon completing the application, the parent or legal guardian will receive a submission completion notification through text or email, depending on the family’s preferred way to receive a message as indicated on the application.

Choice School Program Lottery Admissions System

The district’s Choice Schools programs are popular with families. The programs can only admit a set number of students due to limited seating. The district selects students through an electronic lottery system to ensure fairness in the admission process. The First Lottery is scheduled to take place on December 15 at 4:00 p.m. Any applications received after December 6 will not be included in the first lottery. The district uses SchoolMint, the lottery management tool, to randomly select applicants to these programs. Parents will receive either a text or email of lottery results.

Submitting the application before December 9 guarantees inclusion in the First Lottery. The District cannot guarantee that applications submitted after December 9 will be entered into the First Lottery.

Notification & Acceptance Letter Submission Deadline

Parents/legal guardians will receive a notification — email or text — informing them of the lottery results. Families of children selected to a choice school program will find an attached acceptance letter returned by January 14, 2022, with an e-signature to claim the seat.

Acceptance letters submitted after the deadline are invalid. Verbal acceptance is not valid. If the child is not selected, they will be placed on a waitlist and moved up as seats become available for one of the program choices.
