The State of Texas passed the act, Texas Girls in STEM Day (March 1), to help encourage girls to consider career fields in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It also celebrates and honors the women who have excelled in those fields.

Who are the greatest scientists of all time? More often than not, you think of Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, or others. Those scientists made remarkable discoveries and changed how we understand the world.
But far too often, women are not included. Women long made significant strides in science, including when they were excluded from formal education and careers in the field. It was only recently that female scientists have come out of the shadows of history.

What You Can Do to Encourage Girls
