AISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney Elected President-Elect of TASA

Aldine ISD Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney has been elected President-elect of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA). Her election was ratified at TASA’s March 23 virtual meeting.

Dr. Goffney becomes the first African American female to ever serve on the TASA Executive Board.

“I am extremely grateful for this amazing honor and look forward to working with my colleagues to further TASA’s mission,” Dr. Goffney said. “TASA is an amazing organization whose mission is to promote, provide and develop leaders who create and sustain student-centered schools and develop future-ready students.”

Dr. Goffney will serve with Los Fresnos CISD Superintendent Gonzalo Salazar, who will serve as TASA President and Tomball ISD Superintendent Martha Salazar-Zamora, who will serve as TASA Vice-President.

All three will assume their duties on June 1, and each will serve a one-year term during the 2022-23 school year.

Dr. Goffney has been a TASA member for 14 years.
