International Film Festival Honors Aldine ISD Short Film

On Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, TX, the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival (CLAIFF) showcased "The Story of La Promesa," an Aldine ISD original short film at their first annual Teach for America feature.

We are so proud of our Multimedia Specialist Luke Rabalais, the “one-man-band” filmmaker behind all of our videos. From screenwriting, interviewing (in English and Spanish), filming, and editing, to even composing music, from beginning to end, this video serves as one of many examples of Rabalais’ talent and we are appreciative of the commitment and heart he puts into telling the Aldine story.

“I regularly tear up when I’m editing videos. I tell my coworkers it’s just allergies [laughing]. But really, interviewing these La Promesa students changed something foundational in me and I’ll never be the same. Listen to them! You’ll get it. Listen and see how beautiful life can be when walking that path of conviction, gratitude, and just living with such a love for other people. I want to be like them when I grow up [laughing].”
