AISD Offers Diverse Schools and Programs
Aldine ISD has 84 schools. Most district neighborhood schools offer a rigorous standards-driven curriculum and gifted, enrichment, and accelerated options. Other schools may have a specific curriculum or focus like hands-on and online learning.

Choice Schools — Another Option
Aldine ISD’s Choice Schools program allows families to select the school that best meets their child’s educational needs based on space availability and eligibility requirements. A Choice School application is required to attend a school that is not a student’s neighborhood school or to attend a Choice School.

Families can apply to have their child admitted to one of Aldine’s various Choice School programs throughout the district. Families with children entering preschool through Grade 11 can begin the application process for admission for the 2022-2023 school year. The late application for Choice Schools will remain open until the start of school, which is August 17. Each Choice School provides students the support they need in their areas of interest and extracurricular activities. Choice Schools are open to Aldine ISD students who meet the criteria but must apply. Due to their popularity, the district selects students through an electronic lottery system.

Why choose Choice Schools? — A Best-Fit School for Your Child

All children are unique. Each learns differently, has aspirations for different careers, and is interested in various subjects. In Aldine ISD, we believe that the more options that suit a student’s interests, the better for the student. The district believes that if all students can attend a high-quality school that matches their interests, they will achieve their academic potential. Families and their children can choose from Aldine’s various unique academic programs — preschool through Grade 11 — throughout the district. Each program provides students the support they need in their areas of interest and offers extracurricular activities.

Dual Language
The two-way dual-language program, launched in fall 2019 in kindergarten classrooms, is expanding by a grade level each year. Students must start the program in kindergarten at one of five campuses — De Santiago, García-Leza, Hinojosa, Magrill, and Vines. Students develop bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural skills and knowledge. Native English speakers and native Spanish speakers receive general academic instruction in two languages. Magnet Schools & International Baccalaureate Programs
The district’s magnet schools offer a wide range of themes from Montessori, direct instruction, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics). The International Baccalaureate® studies program provides a rigorous, highly recognized curriculum. The IB® Diploma Program is a globally recognized honors curriculum with many colleges and universities awarding credit upon exam results. Aldine ISD students can follow the entire IB® continuum — the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program, and Diploma Program.

Early College, CTE & P-TECH Schools and Non-Traditional Campus
Additionally, each high school Choice School offers opportunities ranging from industry certifications to associate degrees. Students will earn college credit in high school and complete their college degrees sooner. Blanson CTEHS offers 17 different programs, while Avalos P-TECH School and Carver High School have four programs and two programs, respectively, in fields that are in high demand. Carver High School offers two new CTE programs — interior design and Mechatronics. Carver HS is applying for P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High) School status this year.

Hall Success Academy is redefining what is possible for non-traditional students in Grades 8-12. The school gives students an opportunity to take control of their learning. The campus offers a student-centered blended learning experience while maintaining the pace for graduation.

Aldine Young Women’s Leadership Academy (YWLA)
YWLA, which focuses on STEM programs, opened in August of 2021 with sixth and seventh graders and will add a grade level each year to become a Grades 6-12 campus by 2027-2028.

Impact Leadership Academy at Wilson
Impact Leadership will be the name of Aldine ISD’s newest Choice School option. The academy, set to open in the fall of 2022, is geared toward students in grades first through eighth. The academy’s goal is to provide a culture in which students will thrive and opportunities and resources for boys to explore deeper learning and prepare them for high school and college. The all-boys campus will serve Grades 1, 2, and 6 in 2022-2023. By 2025-2026, the academy will serve Grades 1-8.

La Promesa: Newcomer and Dual Language Experience
La Promesa opened with ninth-graders in August 2021 and will add a grade level each year to become a Grade 9-12 campus by 2025-2026. The school focuses on newcomers — students living three or fewer years in the U.S. with little to no English proficiency or coming from countries where English is not the language spoken. The school embraces biculturalism, biliteracy, and bilingualism campus culture. La Promesa will add two CTE programs in the 2022-2023 school year.
