Aldine Partners With Bel Furniture to Donate Beds to a Community Family

On Wednesday, July 20, new community partner, Bel Furniture, donated two twin-over-full bunk beds to a family looking to adopt several orphaned Aldine students. After a meeting with Aldine ISD’s Education Foundation and Family and Community Engagement Department, Bel Furniture’s Director of Marketing, Rosa Serrano, learned of the family’s situation and moved to act quickly.

The beds were brought to the home of Estefine Flores, the aunt in the process of adopting all five students, where she lives with her four children. Flores and her family watched with smiles on their faces as the beds were brought in. “I’m excited and moved,” said Flores. “Seeing this all come together has made me happy.”

Community partnerships that bring value to the district are the types of connections that Aldine looks to make. The collaboration between Aldine ISD and Bel Furniture is a newly formed effort, but is already expected to provide benefits to more families of the community.

The partnership with Bel Furniture has proven to be fruitful,” said Linda Olsen, Aldine Education Foundation Director. “We have just begun helping the community together, but are already looking forward to many more projects to come.”
