Aldine ISD Welcomes Two New Roles to the Family and Community Engagement Department

With the 2022-2023 school year underway, the Family and Community Engagement Department has hired two new FACE liaisons to assist with campuses in the district.

The new FACE liaisons are Gina Mann and Charlotte Wynn. 

As liaisons, they will be in charge of overseeing two schools each, Cypresswood Elementary, Francis Elementary, Jones Middle School and Jones Elementary School respectively, by communicating between the school and the FACE Department. They will also assist each campus through various trainings and events that aim at helping students with their academic lives.

The Family and Community Engagement Department was created in 2020 with the purpose of finding ways to engage with the families of the district, while also empowering parents to become more active with their children’s education.

Since its inception, the department has created many initiatives, programs and events. Of the various endeavors, one of the roles they implemented was a FACE liaison for each of the campuses. The liaison is to act as a point of contact for families at Aldine ISD campuses and the FACE department, to communicate the various tools and benefits FACE provides, and assist with events FACE has planned for different campuses.

While there have been liaisons on the campuses since the department was formed, the main difference is that these two new team members will function as liaisons solely. In recent years, campus employees served as the liaison for the FACE Department.

“I think this is a great start,” said Dr. Martha Escalante, FACE Executive Director. “We have seen how much help the liaisons can have with supporting the families of our campuses, so to be able to add these roles, in which they are able to fully focus on helping families, it will make a huge difference in the amount of support they will be able to provide.”

The Family and Community Engagement Department has steadily brought new and engaging undertakings to provide support to the families of Aldine, and with the addition of these two new roles, FACE will be able to continue that progress in AISD.
