Aldine Police Department Officer Works to Combat Catalytic Converter Thefts

In 2022, Houston and the surrounding areas saw a rise in catalytic converter thefts. Aldine ISD Police Officer Ariel Holliday, a community outreach officer, wanted to assist the community by hosting a catalytic converter painting event.

Holliday partnered with multiple AISD schools to paint the catalytic converters free for citizens in the Aldine ISD area. Many students volunteered to assist the community as well.

Holliday has hosted four “Stop the Hurt, Paint the Convert” events. The latest event was held at Davis High School on Saturday, October 29, 2022, servicing 45 vehicles. A total of 179 have had their converters painted and had the last eight numbers of the vehicle’s VIN into the catalytic converters.
