Houston Rockets and Memorial Hermann Celebrate With Escamilla Elementary School Students for Being Be Fit Challenge Winners

Disponible en: Español

The Be Fit Challenge presented by Children’s Memorial Hermann is implemented in Houston area schools. It provides children with nutrition and activity tips while participating in fun, educational fitness, and nutrition activities to win contest prizes. The schools also compete to win an exciting Be Fit Rally, starring Rockets entertainment, and Memorial Hermann fitness and nutrition experts.

Escamilla Elementary School won the 2021-2022 school year Be Fit Challenge. All 820 Escamilla Bulldogs participated, logging a total of 13,879,692 fitness minutes/points, giving Escamilla the first-place title. The rally celebration was to take place in the spring of 2022. However, due to scheduling conflicts, it had to be rescheduled for the fall. Still, students received a special sneak peek of the prizes at the end of the 2021-2022 school year receiving Houston Rockets-themed knapsacks and school supplies.

The entire school was invited to participate in the celebration rally in October. The top student winners who advanced to the next grade level did receive prizes.

Top students who logged the most fitness minutes in each grade level received a special commemorative prize pack. Fifth grader Mayiel Pérez was the school’s overall winner. He received a unique Houston Rockets-branded sports gear to use at home and a backpack to commemorate his outstanding achievements.

The school received new equipment for students to strengthen their football, basketball, and soccer skills (e.g., goals and cones).
