Aldine ISD Hosts Annual Family Health Fair

On Saturday, March 4, Aldine ISD’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department hosted their annual Family Health Fair at the M.B Sonny Donaldson Child Nutrition Building, for the families of the community to come out and learn more about the various opportunities offered to them through various district partners.

The Family Health Fair saw an attendance of over 650 people, with lines to enter starting as early as 7:30 a.m. for the 9 a.m. open. As the families entered, they were given event passports with each of the participating organizations listed. Families who visited five separate stations were able to submit their passports, in exchange for a free weighted blanket and box of Lysol wipes.

By the end of the health fair, FACE had distributed about 500 blankets to the families, along with various giveaways and resources provided by the organizations in attendance, such as Flu and COVID vaccines, COVID testing and blood and sugar level health tests.

“We are very thankful to all our health community partners who showed their commitment to supporting our Aldine families,” said Dr. Martha Escalante, executive director of FACE.

Apart from the giveaways, families were able to receive CPR lessons, proper teeth brushing skills and enjoy photo opportunities with Mirabel Madrigal from Disney’s “Encanto”, courtesy of Texas Children’s.

A special thanks to all the participant organizations including: Texas Children’s Health Plan, Avenue 360, the Hope Clinic, Mi Familia Dental, Molina Healthcare, Dentaquest, Harris County Dental Program, Houston Food Bank, UHPhealth Inc., MD Anderson Cancer Center, Harris County Emergency Corps., Baker Ripley,  Harris County Public Health Outreach Team, Memorial Hermann, Harris County Public Health-Mosquito & Vector Control,  Community Health Choice,  Next Level Urgent Care, Texas Children’s Injury Prevention/Safe Kids Greater Houston,  HCPH-Nutrition and WIC Services, Aldine Child Nutrition Services, and Aldine Social and Emotional Learning and Culture Department.
