District Partners With Construction Career Collaborative to Connect Grads to Careers; Hiring Event on May 3

C3 and Aldine ISD seek to connect more than 150 graduating seniors to careers in commercial construction.

Aldine ISD and C3 are excited to announce a partnership to hold a construction-specific hiring event. Students are invited to meet with construction companies with at least one open entry position, with some companies offering apprenticeship positions. Space will be provided for on-site interviews and immediate job offers. The goal is to connect more than 150 graduating seniors to careers in commercial construction.

“One of our strategic plan priorities is to ensure our students graduate with opportunities and choices,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney. “Our partnership with C3 is yet another measure in which we are demonstrating our commitment to our students. I encourage graduating seniors with a desire in a career in construction to take advantage of the hiring event opportunity.”

The hiring event is open to high school students from Aldine ISD and outside districts. However, schools must register with C3 to ensure accommodation is made.

“Our industry competes against all industries to attract the best and brightest to our field,” said Angela Robbins Taylor, executive director of C3. “We want young people to know that construction is a viable option with career paths they can begin right out of high school. Many construction companies are more than willing to invest in training the right candidates through on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and mentors. These are all earn while you learn options that hiring event attendees can leverage.”

C3 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit alliance of many Owners, Contractors, Specialty Contractors, design professionals, and industry associations collaborating to strengthen the safe, skilled, and sustainable craft workforce. C3 achieves its mission by focusing on construction safety, skills training linked to construction career paths, and competitive talent management practices.
