Victory Early College HS Student Named MASBA Scholar

Congratulations to Nathan Kenmognie, a Victory Early College High School senior student. The Mexican American School Boards Association (MASBA) awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Nathan for his first year of college; Nathan will attend Houston Community College. Nathan was one of five students across Texas to receive a MASBA scholarship.

According to the website, MASBA members are committed to closing the achievement gap for all students — especially for Latino students, who comprise the majority of students in Texas public schools. Latinos will make up nearly a third of U.S. students in 2030.

Board Trustee Connie Esparza represents Aldine Aldine ISD on the MASBA Board of Directors. Trustee Dr. Viola M. García served as MASBA Board President from 2003-2004.
