Yale University Announces Recipients of the 2023 Yale Educator Award

The Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions has recognized Eisenhower High School teacher Remelia Arpino as a recipient of the 2023 Yale Educator Award. This award recognizes educators worldwide who inspire and support their students to perform at high levels and achieve excellence.

“There’s no greater joy than being acknowledged by a former student who highlights your profound impact on their educational journey,” Arpino said. “This award is a powerful testament to a teacher’s unwavering dedication to nurturing young minds. By mentoring, I have inspired and left an enduring mark on my student’s life, equipping them with tools and principles to excel and thrive beyond their secondary education.”

Eisenhower High School Principal James Metcalf stated that everyone is incredibly proud of Ms. Arpino, adding that the recognition is a testament to her positive, long-lasting impact on students.

About the Award

The Yale Educator Recognition Program recognizes outstanding educators worldwide. Of this year’s 385 nominees representing 43 states and 28 countries, 80 teachers and 32 counselors were selected for the award. Matriculating students were invited to nominate high school educators, and a committee of Yale admissions officers reviewed each nomination individually and chose the recipients. In September, each winner was sent their award with a congratulatory letter, and administrators of the high schools were notified of their achievement.

The Yale Admissions Office attributes the exceptional quality of the Yale student body to educators like these recipients of the 2023 Yale Educator Award, who shape their students long before they attend Yale. The Admissions Office is proud to thank these and all educators for their ongoing efforts in motivating and supporting their students.
