AISDPD’s Commander Marc Harris Graduates From Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s Homeland Security Academy

The Aldine ISD Police Department proudly announces that Commander Marc Harris recently received a Certificate of Graduation from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) upon completing the Homeland Security Leadership Academy (HSLA) conducted at FLETC, Brunswick, GA.

Class #18 attendees included law enforcement executives from state, local, and territorial police and sheriff agencies.

The HSLA is a two-week professional development and leadership training program for law enforcement executives. It results from collaboration between FLETC and the National Sheriffs’ Association. Some topics covered included leadership in a crisis, the art of perception, exemplary leadership, emotional intelligence, and ethics in leadership.

FLETC has a vital mission: to train those who protect our homeland. FLETC is the primary provider of basic and advanced law enforcement training to federal law enforcement agencies and a significant contributor to advanced training for state, local, and international law enforcement officers and agents.

Since its creation in 1970, FLETC has trained over a million law enforcement officers, and, on average, FLETC trains more than 70,000 law enforcement officers each year. FLETC collaborates with over 95 federal Partner Organizations and law enforcement experts worldwide.

Commander Marc Harris was born in Houston, Texas, and attended Aldine ISD schools. He graduated from Aldine High School in 1993 and lives in the district. Shortly after graduating from North Harris Police Academy in 1999, Harris’ began his career in law enforcement with the Spring ISD Police Department. He then joined the Humble ISD Police Department briefly before signing on with Aldine ISD in 2001. He was promoted to Corporal in 2007, supervising evening shift patrol. In 2015, he was promoted to Administrative Sergeant and now holds the rank of Commander with 25 years of law enforcement experience.

Commander Harris holds a Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration in 2012, and a Master of Public Administration in 2014 from Bellevue University. He has successfully completed the FBI LEEDA Trilogy training in supervision and received the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award for Command and Executive Leadership. Management and Supervision from Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT). Commander Harris’s professional associations include the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA).
