Davis High School to Present Musical ‘A Super Soul Revue’ on February 22

Davis High is presenting its musical comedy, A Super Soul Revue, this week. The revue celebrates Black history, with the audience enjoying performances that include music, acting, and dancing from the Falcon players, Dazzlers, and singers.

The whole family and community are invited to come and enjoy this evening of fun, celebration, and a musical journey through the ’70s. 

A Super Soul Revue centers around 17-year-old Shavonne, 16-year-old Trevor, 14-year-old Reign, and 15-year-old Bobby are cousins. They visit their Uncle Archie and Aunt Pam in Houston, Texas, for the Mayes Family Reunion. The Mayes Family is quite adventurous. The “too cool” cousins are there for the weekend with their parents and aunts and uncles. They are excited to spend time with their favorite Uncle Archie and Auntie Pam Mayes. Uncle Archie was a renowned musician who played for some of the best bands and singers during the ’70s. Aunt Pam was highly sought after in the ’70s. She was considered a triple threat because she could sing, dance, and act. They met during the Soul of the ’70s Summer Funk Fest, where they fell in love. They traveled the country with some of the hottest bands and artists. Their adventures led to getting married on the road and collecting lots of stories and memories to tell about life and music.

The musical is a production of a Davis HS Theatre Department, led by Cliff D. Alexander. The revue was written and arranged by Roenia Thompson, assistant theatre director.
