Aldine ISD’s Black History Month Celebration Recap

During February, Aldine ISD students and staff reflected on an empowering Black History Month journey within the district! This year’s theme was ART as a Platform for Social Justice.

From discussions, to performances, Aldine ISD celebrated the art, creativity, and invaluable contributions of the Black community. Each event was centered on unity, education, and the ongoing pursuit of equality. Below is a recap of some of the events Aldine ISD hosted in celebration of Black History Month.

Some of the events included:

• An Oratory Contest, “The Transformative Power of Art”. Including Elementary, Middle, and High School students 
• Art displays at the administration buildings 
• “Expressions of Excellence: African American Contributions to the Arts…Past, Present, and Future” Discussion and Discourse
• Celebration through written word (book study) 
• Celebrating with Parents, History of the Black Heritage Committee of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
• Celebrating through Culinary Delight
• Celebrating with our Students, School Yard Rap

Throughout the district, Black History Month inspired students and staff members to celebrate and appreciate the history.
