Over the past five months, CAMH’s commitment to arts education has flourished, with specialized art instructors working in various schools throughout the city. One standout collaboration features teaching artist Janice Warren, who worked closely with art teacher Christian Perkins’ classroom at Hill Elementary in a Creative and Colorful Autobiography workshop. Students use acrylic paints, newspapers, colored pencils, oil pastels, found objects, and more to visually represent their unique qualities and individual experiences to create self-portraits. Their artworks reflect personal expression and emphasize the importance of artistic enrichment for all students.
KHOU Channel 11 featured the event in its morning news broadcast on March 19.
