Aldine ISD Hosts its Annual Student Summit at M.O. Campbell Educational Center

On April 22, Aldine ISD’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department, in collaboration with the Student Support Department, held its annual Female Empowerment Summit for ninth grade students at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center.

The goal of the Female Empowerment Summit is to prepare students to become better leaders, higher achievers, and agents of change within their schools and communities. The students experienced a morning of interactive workshop activities and panel discussions.

The event was divided into various sessions for the students to attend. To prepare them for the new challenges they will face, the sessions highlighted leadership development, goal setting, self-esteem and etiquette. Each session was led by a different female speaker, ranging from current student seniors, to executive directors within the district.

As the students attended the different sessions, they were able to partake in various exercises. Preparing the students for all the changes they will experience, once they transition to high school with the rest of their peers, was the basis of the topics for each break out session.

The Female Empowerment Summit is an event that Aldine ISD feels provides much needed assistance to the students in attendance. Prior years have seen both male only attendees and a mix of male and female students in attendance. While who is in attendance may change, what does remain is that the students are given guidance on how to both traverse and prepare for the challenges of high school.
