Conley Elementary School, Gray Elementary School, and Sammons Elementary School will hold closing ceremonies for present and past students to say goodbye to their beloved campuses.

Conley Elementary School

Conley will hold a “Farewell Luau” on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All Conley alums are invited to attend to commemorate Conley’s past and present students and staff. Participants are asked to bring memorabilia to share with their fellow Conley alums and present students.

The Luau will be held outdoors, so attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and tents. Parking will be limited. An adult must accompany children. Refreshments, food truck items, and photos will be available for purchase. Conley Elementary School is located at 3345 West Greens Road.

Sammons Elementary School

Sammons Elementary School will also hold its farewell celebration on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be a come-and-go celebration. This event is also open to Sammons alums, present students, and staff. Attendees are also asked to bring their Sammons memorabilia to share with past and present students. An adult must accompany children. There will be several vendors at the event for attendees to choose from. Sammons Elementary School is located at 2301 Frick Road.

Gray Elementary School

Gray Elementary will hold a “Graymanji” celebration on Tuesday, May 21, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the school. Again, Gray alums and present students and staff are invited to attend and share their memories of Sammons Elementary School. There will be games, prizes, food, music, and a bounce house. Gray Elementary School is located at 700 West Road.

In February of 2024, the Aldine ISD Board of Trustees approved the closure of the three schools at the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year to optimize its highest-quality facilities and continue providing Aldine students with the best educational choices and experiences. Conley, Gray, and Sammons students will be re-zoned to other Aldine ISD schools.
