Requests for School Bus Transportation for 2024-2025 School Year

Wednesday, July 24, is the first day for students attending schools following the Additional Days School Year (ADSY) calendar; all other students will return to the classrooms on Monday, August 12.

The AISD Transportation Department’s goal is to make sure that schools are equipped with the necessary tools for a successful transportation service to and from school. As a reminder, the Transportation Department will once again split some grade levels from riding together to minimize the difference in grade levels, which could impact some siblings who ride the bus together.

What if a Parent/Legal Guardian Has Yet to Request Transportation Formally?

The department plans to temporarily take students to and from school and home if their parents or legal guardians have yet to request school bus transportation.

Germán Enamorado, executive director of transportation, said that bus drivers would take any student at a bus stop to the school they attend. Enamorado reminded campuses that they would need to fill out a bus pass and provide it to the driver for transportation from school to home.

Enamorado added schools will take down the student’s name, address, temporary route number, and the bus stop they want their student to use while they await a permanent assignment.

How do Families Request Transportation for Their Students?

Families who need transportation for their students but have not formally requested it need to contact their school to make a formal request.

“Our goal is to have all new requests received within the first few days of the new school year for students and routed with an effective date by the end of the first week of school,” Enamorado said. “In the meantime, we hope the passes will give parents peace of mind knowing staff will take students to and from school.”

Safety: Please Have Your Child Wear Their Student ID Badges

Students at their respective schools must visibly wear their student ID badges. These ID badges assist transportation staff in ensuring that students are accounted for when they are transported via bus to and from school.

“On behalf of the Transportation Department, we wish all a smooth first day and a very successful school year,” Enamorado said.
