The initiative was made possible by the generous donation of the Powell Foundation.
The Aldine Independent School District’s Early Learning Department is thrilled to announce a generous donation of 1,886 Bedtime in a Box containers from the Powell Foundation. The boxes will be distributed to students in the prekindergarten (PreK4) program at eight Aldine ISD primary schools, ensuring young learners can access resources that promote literacy, establish bedtime routines, and strengthen the connection between home and school.
Each PreK4 student at participating campuses receives a Bedtime in a Box, which includes:
- Four age-appropriate books
- A bath wash, towel, and bath toys
- A toothbrush and toothpaste
- Pajamas
- A stuffed animal
- An alarm clock
- A Teach My Learning Kit
- A kid-friendly routine log
Bedtime in a Box is designed to help families establish nightly routines, contributing to improved literacy outcomes and reinforcing habits that last a lifetime. Each of the eight primary schools have been hosting or will host distribution events where parents and their children receive training on using the materials. These events also feature activities designed to engage families and support early learning.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Powell Foundation for this impactful donation,” said Ray A. Mondragón, school assistant superintendent for primary schools. “By providing families with the tools they need to create a consistent bedtime routine, we are setting our students up for success both in the classroom and beyond.”
The distribution of Bedtime began this week at De Santiago EC/PreK/K, Reece Academy EC/PreK/K, and Jones EC/PreK/K.
