The Aldine ISD Technology Department recently completed the installation of 28,500 new Chromebooks for all ninth-grade centers and seven high schools as part of the $1.8 billion bond approved by the community in 2023. Aldine ISD is ensuring its students are supplied with the latest technology equipment to help support teaching and learning.
Technology upgrades span across Prop A, which includes technology infrastructure projects, and Prop B, which covers instructional technology in the classroom. As technology continues to advance, it’s important for Aldine ISD to stay on top of how technology is constantly changing in today’s world, especially in the learning environment.
Christian Mendez-Ramos, a senior at Blanson Career and Technical Education (CTE) High School and a member of the 2023 Bond Oversight Committee, said he’s had his new Chromebook for a few weeks now and instantly saw a difference from his previous one.
“I’m personally having a fantastic experience with the new Chromebook,” Mendez-Ramos said. “The touchscreen is a nice feature, giving me the option to use the screen or keyboard. The battery life lasts longer, which is great for ensuring the Chromebook will last the entire day without worrying about needing to be charged. The new Chromebooks are, without a doubt, better in every aspect.”
The new Chromebooks feature an intuitive touchscreen, lightning-fast processor, ample storage, all-day battery life, and versatile tablet and tent modes for students to take notes and sketch ideas. The quick-sense charging hubs provide organization with 1ft USB-C charging cables and faster charging for each Chromebook in all high school laptop carts.

Mendez-Ramos had the opportunity to help deliver the new Chromebooks to the other high schools with an Aldine-approved vendor, Riverside Technology Inc. (RTI). Although the experience was short-lived, he said it showed him how much of an impact the upgraded Chromebooks will have on students.
“It is essential for all Aldine students to have new laptops, which is an important resource that will help students to complete their work faster and handle big workloads without running into any issues,” Mendez-Ramos said. “The new Chromebooks are truly a vital upgrade for students, and I’m positive they will contribute to their learning.”
The Chromebook replacements are part of a multi-year plan to replace all student devices in the district. Replacements started with high schools this year, followed by middle schools in 2026 and elementary schools in 2027. Teachers and campus staff are also part of the device refreshers. Devices will start rolling out this year with key features like captivating visuals, intuitive touchscreens, enhanced connectivity, and fast charging.

Aldine serves nearly 58,000 students who will experience the different aspects of the technology upgrades as part of the 2023 bond. Over the next few months, schools will start to see other technology rollouts, such as laptops for Victory Early College, new ViewSonic interactive panels, new digital marquees, and new 10th-generation iPads for primary schools.
