Dear Aldine ISD Community,

It was great to see everyone back at work and in our schools this week. I hope everyone had a restful and rejuvenating spring intersession. As we step into the second half of our semester, I want to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students and staff.

Celebrating Excellence
Our academic achievements continue to shine. Five Aldine ISD schools earned top spots in Children at Risk’s 2023-2024 Houston rankings. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success. Furthermore, MacArthur High School’s Academic Decathlon team is heading to the state competition for the first time in 10 years — an outstanding accomplishment!

We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes who participated in National Signing Day, committing to continue their education and athletic careers at the next level. Congratulations to Aldine High School football athlete Samuel Saravia for being named a Houston Touchdown Club Scholar-Athlete Award finalist! This is such an honor! Five high schools also made it to regionals in their respective sports; Aldine High School boys’ basketball earned the Bi-District Champion Title. What an accomplishment for our talented student-athletes and dedicated coaches.

Black History Month
We are nearing the end of Black History Month, and we have enjoyed hearing students sing and perform and celebrating culture in our buildings and campuses. I loved seeing our families, students, and staff at our inaugural Black Excellence Expo at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center before our spring intercession. It was amazing to see our talented students’ artwork and outstanding performances. Thank you to everyone who organized and our community for supporting our students.

Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, we invite job seekers to our Aldine ISD Spring Job Fair on March 1, where we will recruit top talent to join our incredible team, shaping the future of our district. Also, middle school campuses will host Parent Night for course selection on February 26 to help families navigate students’ academic journeys, a crucial step in their educational path.

For our youngest learners, don’t forget to join us at the PreK Expo and Enrollment Fair on April 5. Early education is a vital foundation for lifelong success, and we are committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for our students from the very start.

Advocating for Public Education
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of joining our board members, district leaders, and student ambassadors in Austin to advocate for the needs of our nearly 57,000 students. Ensuring that every student receives a quality education requires strong leadership and collaboration. I am proud of the work we are doing together to shape the future of public education in Texas.
