Aldine ISD Police Commander Completes Prestigious Leadership Program

The Aldine ISD Police Department recently announced that Commander Orville W. Wright III has earned the prestigious Law Enforcement Command Officer Program Certificate (LECOP) from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation (TPCA). Wright was awarded the distinct certification on December 17, 2024.

According to the TPCA, the program aims to encourage and provide leadership development in Texas law enforcement and spotlight individuals working hard to prepare themselves for leadership roles. Commander Wright underwent an in-person training program consisting of ten intensive courses implemented by the TPCA. Courses focused on topics that included developing leaders for Texas law enforcement, managing patrol operations, managing criminal investigations, and more. 

“The LECOP program, provided by the Texas Police Chiefs Association, is designed to provide our best leaders with leading edge law enforcement training in leadership, management, and criminal justice information, which will help propel each participant to higher levels of performance,” said Aldine ISD Police Chief, Paul Cordova. “I am very proud of Commander Wright for completing this training, and I look forward to the dividends that it will render.”

Commander Wright is a 27-year law enforcement veteran with 20 years of serving the Aldine ISD Community and currently as the Administrative Commander in the Support Services Division for the Aldine ISD Police Department. He began his career in law enforcement in 1997 as a deputy for the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department. After that, he joined the City of Azle Police Department in 1998. He joined the Conroe ISD Police Department in 2000 before signing on with Aldine ISD in 2004. Before starting his law enforcement career, Commander Wright served in the United States Air Force. 

Commander Wright holds a Master Peace Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, Basic Instructor Proficiency, Firearms Instructor Proficiency, and many more certifications. He’s also an FBI National Academy session #286 graduate and FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award recipient. Commander Wright earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Lone Star College. He is currently working on his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice through Sam Houston State University.
